Took a flight on SAS and Austrian Airlines and they had the video playing during landing and takeoff. And from what I recall, the passengers did not watch the takeoffs and landings via nosecam or birds eye view on American Airlines. The cameras were pointed in the cockpit at the pilot and co-pilot and through the windshield. The passengers actually saw the crew fight to regain control of the doomed aircraft. I was on a flight from ORD to SFO just before that accident and remember watching the crew with that view.
