Australia had a nation wide hyper-link like precursor to the Internet back in 1985. It was based on the pseudo graphical Teletext format (as seen on *old* high end TV sets/gambling venues/etc). Each page had up to ten links embedded in the page (accessed by keys 0 to 9) and 999 pages (accessed by *pagenum# ). The navigational was presumably based on tone phone controls. They had live chat, software downloads and even online banking via gateways. Despite using 1200/75 modems it was much more responsive than much of todays Internet due to it's low bandwidth requirements. The idea of page linking and URL's was well established and in use domestic use well before either the Internet or HyperCard.Ironically it's hard to find information on the Viatel service as it predated the domestic Internet, and the WWW. Still remember it fondly though. Even wrote my own version of the schools BBC Micro network in the late 80's. Just couldn't capture the filelock exceptions between different machines. Darn.
You aren't wrong at all. You are one happy, drunk-ass camper.

“I've travelled all over the world and the people from every country I have visited have almost always been wonderful, generous, kind and polite. (with the odd exception for a few greedy people - its normally money). It is such a shame that power often attracts very unpleasant people who do not mirror the qualities of their population. Can the world really all live in the harmony that all of us want, when these megalomaniacs control our destiny?

Wow...thank you for the compliment...that is very nice of you.I don't really want him to die in a fire, I'm just expressing my annoyance in a gross hyperbole. It just pisses me off when people complain so much about a companies trying to make money. It costs money to keep a site up and running and the only ways to do it is to sell ads, merch or charge for content. Ad revenue is hard to make and sometimes it evolves selling large ads to make any significant money, but the flip side is that it keeps the site free, fast and continuously evolving. I just can't stand people who think that the world owes them stuff and any attempt to commercialize is an insult..
Does it work with all GPUs with H.264 acceleration?!

Very low CPU usage for me... but the video quality took a nose dive. It might be HD content by it's all messed up, like the scaling is not working properly. Lines that are supposed to be smooth are all jagged. (on a Nvidia 8800GTS)Like you said... hope they fix this before the final release. It's a great thing that Flash finally gets some GPU support but the video quality currently is not acceptable.?
How does that reporter even have a job? Why not ask more simple questions? |

Thank God Obama bailed out Goldman Sachs - They were almost out of business - but HOPE prevailed, and they were saved

It's quite sad that the reality of space travel is turning out to be difficult, dangerous (though that doesn't deter people) and very expensive.First we scrap moon visits, and now we scrap the shuttle (all for valid reasons no doubt) . And there still hasn't been a leap forward in technology to replace the propulsion system with the next generation.... Though I'm still optimistic in the long term..its still depressing at the momentCome-on lets poor some money into Space travel instead of killing people, and united the world in the spirit of exploration......of well I can dream. |
