He spent the first two thirds saying how ridiculously formulaic and unoriginal it is, and then spent the last third emphasizing that nonetheless he still found it really fun. When Yahtzee says "I've been playing for 25 hours and yet I can't stop because I actually want to know what happens next", it's a pretty big compliment. Doesn't sound so "meh" to me.
