But, you have to remember that the reason they have so much of our debt, is because they were buying it to keep their currency artificially low, something they face increasing world pressure about. So that won't last forever. China is definitely an economic force to be reckoned with, however they have to maintain at least 8% annual growth just so their rural labor pool can find factory jobs and not starve to death. The air quality of the whole country is abysmal, to give you perspective, a traffic cop has a life expectancy of about 40. The pollution there is unreal, most of their major rivers are unfit for even industrial use! China is growing for sure, currently their is a lot of opportunity there, but they are behind us in freedom of thought, health, and other social benefits. I wouldn't want to live there, but the idea of having to learn Mandarin or Cantonese to do business is becoming a real possibility.
If you overestimate the value of something, you probably overpaid for it.

I believe that not turning our society into some sick form of social Darwinism is what makes us human. You'll wind up paying for it either way. In our system, upfront through our welfare state. In your society, you still pay, for law enforcement and building/operating prisons where you have to keep all your poor after they steal something. Our system has its flaws, but on the whole it's still preferable I think.It is by how you treat your sick and your needy by which your character reveals itself.!

As a student at WSU, this report that appeared in our paper is very tame compared to what I actually saw on campus. At least 2 more cases of people breaking windows and running from angry homeowners, saw a drunk guy trying to start a fight with a Mormon kid trying to hand out anti drinking pamphlets, and many more people passed out on lawns.
