| "Microevolution" and "macroevolution" both happen the exact same way. If you believe in microevolution, congratulations, you also believe in macroevolution! I suggest watching a series of videos made by YouTube user AronRa called "Foundational Falsehoods of Creationism". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dm277H3ot6YThat video in particular deals with the creationist argument "Macroevolution has never been observed." |

Newsweek lost it's soul a long time ago. I remember last year there were weekly stories about what Obama should do/say to win the election, with nary a piece of advice for McCain. And to not ever label Jonathon Alter's columns as opinion, when in fact all they are is liberal opinion, was/is deceptive. We knew to expect liberal commentary from O'Quinn and conservative from Will, but I expected news from the rest of the magazine and mostly get Obama cheerleading. This issue is the nail in the coffin, with that picture and that ridiculous headline ( "She's bad news for the GOP-and everybody else too"). If I wanted left echo chamber kind of crap I would subscribe to The Nation (I wouldn't subscribe to right echo chamber crap, like the National Review, either). Which is why my subscription to Newsweek will lapse w/o renewal. If the ideology doesn't kill Newsweek, the "new media" will.
I like Will Smith, I think he is a good actor, but I am glad they killed this movie for one reason, McG. Who calls them selves McG, get a real ***** name you *****. Thanks for ruining terminator, dick, I am ashamed we come from the same state, hey at least we have Sam Raimi, and Bruce Cambell.

“First of all it's a CANDU reacter(canadian deuterium) named because it uses heavy water and natural uranium. In this instance what you're calling recycling refers to the reuse of the trans-uranics(uranium plutonium thorium etc.) which can be returned to the fuel cycle and used to produce power. They are talking about burning up long lived fission products. These long lived products are radioactive but unlike the transuranics are not useful fuel for power production. Putting them in a reactor however transmutes them into stable or shorter lived isotopes. This drastically reduces the amount of waste that would have to be put into a place like yucca mountain.

Well it is natural and can be grown, which is better than using chemicals. As far as I know no one is in any danger of not having enough corn in their diet.

It's a combination of wind and ice flows. The waters can move quite rapidly from the severe wind alone, and ice often forms on top of the flow. The combination is enough to push the rocks around, even quite big ones. There's also conditions where the wind can form boundary layer effects as low as 2 inches from the ground, where the wind below the layer can be moving up to 100 mph there, but not above there. For little rocks, how this works is obvious, but for big rocks, the combination of these two can be enough to start them moving. Gale force winds on the base, ice pushing along the top... voila. And once they're moving, the force needed to keep them moving halves (starting friction is much higher), meaning that they suddenly can move quite rapidly, sliding along the wet playa. Just ideal conditions creating unusual effects. |
