To me, it just proves we aren't pirating it enough. Seriously, you get caught by Microsoft running a pirated version of Windows, they offer you a discounted version. It's like the best coupon code ever.

Uh, we don't hate Palin. We love Palin - she is so stupid that she is walking caricature and we laugh at the people that support her.You can call it "we are afraid of Palin" or "we are hating Palin" but you are confusing our laughing at Palin with your projection..
The real crime is that they're out of the kitchen.!

Stay classy humans...?
I just registered on digg to comment on this after being a passive observer for years.I had several 'internet relationships' over the years before I got married, with varying results. When possible I always tried to get a good picture of the person before I agreed to meet with them, not just for superficial reasons, but to be sure that there was a glimmer of attraction before I got in too deep. It's just common sense. In those days webcams weren't so common, so you still had to take a 'photo' with a pinch of salt. While I can understand that this guy was upset, the fact that he posted this online makes him a hundred times worse than the girl who got caught in her lie. Sure he lost a lot of money, mostly through his own naivety, but it sounds like she genuinely had feelings for him. While he thinks her e-mail was written like 'a Harry Potter fanfic', it reads as a mature and heartfelt admission of guilt. While he may get a pat on his back from his friends for putting this private matter online, it could quite conceivably ruin the girl's life.Did he stop to think for a moment why she was so insecure that she felt that she needed to lie, and why it became increasingly difficult for her to admit to that lie? She clearly has issues with her appearance and understandably so. All this will have served to do is reinforce those fears for her, and make finding another emotional connection of this sort so much harder for her in the future.Yes, he got hurt. Did she really deserve public humiliation on a global scale though? That is of course assuming this is even real...

Nereid, you've not earned enough of my own respect for me to spend any time as your research assistant. You will not find truth with the burn-the-heretic approach observable in places like the Bad Astronomy and Universe Today forum; you will only alienate those with whom you communicate, and hopefully you don't talk to people you meet in the real world like this. Were I to even go to the theorists by now and explain to them that you wanted to know these things, most of them would tell me to ignore you and all of the other pseudo-skeptics. People who reserve all of their skepticism for against-the-mainstream ideas should be left alone to believe what they are so hell-bent on believing. The scientific term is called "motivated reasoning". It's not how science should be done. Science is about building relationships, keeping an open mind, reading as much as you can about the various theories, and waiting until you've actually learned a theory to compare and contrast it with those you already understand. You've not done any of this. Your approach lacks sufficient merit to yield any results, and by bringing me in as your research assistant, you just mire me in your own poo.Once again, I will ask you: Why is it that you do not directly ask Anthony Peratt or Wal Thornhill yourself? I'll help you out: It's because your purpose is to shut people up. You don't care about learning the other theory. You guys have already been sufficiently hostile to the principal scientists that they no longer want anything to do with you. Now, it's really just me, and your goal now is to convince others that they should not pay attention to me. Part of my purpose here has been to just get you to go onto the record. People are going to want to know in 25 or 50 years from now why it was that it took so long for people to realize that laboratory plasmas are like cosmic plasmas. And we'll have this wonderful record to refer to. People will demonstrate through example which you have set. After all, the BAUT can't be trusted to preserve anything which casts them in a poor light. But don't get too caught up into thinking that the EU will never penetrate public awareness beyond the Internet. Talbott's latest video ups the stakes for you guys. I highly recommend that you watch the first (of three) installments, which is now complete ("Symbols of an Alien Sky"). That will give you a good feel for the strength of the mythological evidence -- which I'm quite sure you know nothing about at this point.
