All dead-tree media is basically irrelevant now. Some of them just don't realize it yet. They are like the buggy makers blacksmiths and farriers of a century ago. Just as a few of those managed to hang on to support the "horse lover" culture, basically, they've all become irrelevant in the bigger picture. Print media is headed the same way. Only question now, how much of the historical content will actually get preserved? In Audio recording, we lost about 60% when we went from 78s to LPs, 60% of what remained, plus what had been added when we went from LPs to CDs, and, so far, close to that going from CD to digital download. Let's stop making that same mistake and try to preserve content first, and decide later if it will ever have any value, even as historical writing in the new world.!

Did anyone happen to go to any of his domains? That threat letter from flex.com is ridiculous. Especially if you check out their website...?

I quit WoW a while ago, but Blizzard's sense of humor is something I do miss.

It seems to be luck of the draw in my circle of friends. I've had my Dell laptop for 5 years with no issue, my step-dad is still using his 8 year old Dell as well. However, two friends with Dells have dead AC adapters. Another friend has a dieing Toshiba, went to buy a new one and it shipped with an LCD filled with dead pixels. One has a Sony Vaio that she beats the hell out of and it runs just fine. |
